Aliens may be coming for us?

Aliens may be coming for us?

On August 20, 1977, NASA launched the space probe Voyager 2. The probe contained graphs of the human anatomy, sounds of nature, music from many countries, “hello” in 54 different languages, and most importantly, a map to the earth. The probe was sent out to space in the hope of discovering alien life, and it has been traveling outward visiting Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Voyager 2 entered interstellar space over two years ago, in November 2018, becoming the second human-made craft to cross into interstellar, after its twin Voyager 1.

As it is far away from a light source right now, it is running on minimal power and most of the features on it – camera, light, audio recorder – are now turned off to conserve power. In the next five years, the probe will eventually run out of power.

Interestingly, in the course of time, if it is ever intercepted by extra-terrestrial species, they will know how to find our planet. While our existence could not be a secret in the cosmos, we need to be aware of the potential risk of deliberately attracting aliens.

Those who found it may not be as friendly as ‘E.T.’ and may come with the cruel sense of humour as in ‘Mars Attack’. So, was it a mistake to send out a map of Earth’s coordinates? Only time will tell.
