Between 1914 and 1921, Chaplin Fever was at its peak and several Chaplin look-alike contests were being held all over the globe. According to a legend, in one of such contests held at Sam Francisco, the real Charlie Chaplin decided to try his luck. He entered the competition, minus his boots and celebrated moustache, impersonating himself. Unfortunately, he failed miserably and came 20th in the contest!
