Indian Premier League or IPL is considered to be one the biggest leagues in the world of sports and definitely in the world of T-20 cricket. On the Moneyball IPL salary calculator, the productiveness of the league has made a few players reach even the INR 100-crore peak, and the number could just grow by the year.

A lot of Indian and international cricketers, have earned multi-million dollars, playing in the IPL. After the ban on Indian Cricket League (ICL), IPL was started in 2008, organized by BCCI.

Here is the list of six cricketers who have earned INR 75 crore or more from the IPL:

  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni

MS Dhoni, who is also the former Indian Captain, had joined the Chennai Super Kings in 2008 after being auctioned for sum of Rs 6 crore. In the year 2015, when CSK was suspended from the Indian Premier League along with Rajasthan Royals for two years, MS Dhoni has represented the Rising Pune Super Giants during that period.

After the suspension period was over, Dhoni again joined the yellow army for a fee of Rs 15 crore making him the most expensive player of the league. The current season salary of star batsman saw a growth of 150% to what he was initially paid. With total earnings of Rs 137.8 crore, Dhoni has become the highest-paid player in the IPL. Over 13 years in his IPL journey, MS Dhoni has been a part of CSK for 11 seasons up to date. 

  • Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, skipper of the Indian Cricket team had joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the year 2008 for just only INR 12 lakhs when he was new to the world of cricket. Since then, he has been loyal to RCB. The current fee of the now seasoned player saw a hike of 99.3% since the beginning of the IPL. RCB has decided to hold on to our Indian Captain for a huge amount of ₹17 crores. With total earnings of Rs 126.2 crore in his 13 years career of IPL, he was the highest-paid player of IPL 2020.

He is the only Indian player who has played 12 seasons with just one franchise. Virat Kohli not only tops the chart in the Moneyball player contract, but he is also among the Top 100 Indians in Forbes. Apart from this, Virat Kohli is also the face of many brands like Pepsi, Cinthol, MRF, etc.

  • Rohit Sharma

He started his career in IPL with the Deccan Chargers (DC) back in 2008. After the dilution of Deccan Chargers in 2011, Rohit Sharma joined Mumbai Indians for a fee of INR 9.2 crore. This amount is almost thrice of what he used to earn with DC.

He has been a part of IPL for 13 years and has played in every single season. Currently, his salary in Mumbai Indians is around 15 crores which makes him the one amongst the most expensive Indian players, in IPL. Overall, he has earned a total amount of Rs 131.6 crore in his 13 years career in IPL. He is among the three players who have crossed a benchmark of Rs 100 crore. In the Moneyball player contract, Rohit Sharma is featured at number 5.

  • Yuvraj Singh

 He is the only player to be retained by two different IPL teams in two consecutive years. RCB had retained Yuvraj Singh in 2014 after offering him Rs. 14 crores. But soon after, Delhi Daredevils signed him in 2015 for Rs. 16 crores. This made him the costliest player of IPL auction 2015. For a base price of 2 crores, Yuvraj Singh was picked by Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 Indian Premier League. In 2019, Mumbai Indians retained him for a base price of Rs 1 crore.

  • Gautam Gambhir

He started his career in IPL with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) with a salary of Rs 2.9 crores. After combining all the IPL seasons, he was the fifth highest-paid Indian Cricketer with a total salary of Rs.94.6 crore. He left the Delhi Daredevils and joined the Kolkata Knight Riders.  In 2011, he became the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Under his captaincy, the team won the IPL in 2012 and 2014. He is the only one who had scored hundreds in five consecutive matches. Before he retired from all forms of the game, he made his final appearance for Delhi Daredevils in 2018.

  • Suresh Raina

Chennai Super Kings retained him at the IPL 2008 auction for just Rs. 2.6 crores. He continued to play for them for eight consecutive seasons. After that, he was retained by Gujarat Lions for the next two years. But since 2018, ‘Thalaivas’ of the IPL made their heroic return and retained him for Rs 11 crores. Overall, he has earned a total amount of Rs 88.7 crore in his 12 years career in IPL.
