What is the Walker Law and it is associated with which sport?

The Walker Law was a highly important law that was passed in 1920, in the New York State to regulate boxing.  Before this law there was no regulation whatsoever in the sport of Boxing. The boxers were devoid of any safety and the fights were often rash and almost barbaric.

With the passing of the Walker Law many important changes were introduced. For instance, the maximum no. of matches for boxers was limited to 15, and it was made mandatory for a physician to be present during a boxing match.

The Walker Law was named after its sponsor James J. Walker who was the then state senate. The majority of the code for the law was written by William Gavin, who was an English boxing promoter.
