Born on 30th March, 1853, in the Netherlands, Vincent Van Gogh was an impeccable Dutch painter who barely got any recognition during his lifetime and sold only one painting. However, post his demise he was regarded as an artistic genius and many of his original works were sold for impressive prices.

Van Gogh struggled all his life trying his luck at becoming an established artist. Owing to huge stress and tension on 23rd December, 1888 he slipped into dementia and threatened his friend who was with his at his home. However, instead of hurting his friend he decided to cut-off his own ear lobe which became a popular anecdote.
