Why do bananas grow in a curved shape?


The reason that bananas grow in a curved shape is negative geotropism, which is a unique process that the fruit goes through. Bananas, instead of growing towards the ground grow towards the sun, and as the fruit grows against gravity, the complete process ends up giving the yellowish colour fruit its familiar curved shape. During the process, the fruit even changes from bright yellow to green colour.
